Slide 2 — Preparation

Before you install

Ensure your computer or mobile device meets the minimum requirements. Use the official Ledger® website or app stores. Keep your recovery phrase offline and a secure surface to write it on.

  • Supported OS: Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android.
  • Strong, private internet connection (avoid public Wi‑Fi).
  • Ledger hardware wallet (Ledger Nano S+, Nano X) and its USB/BT cable.

Slide 3 — Install Ledger® Live

Download and verify

Download Ledger® Live from the official source, verify the checksum if desired, then install. Open the app and choose "Get Started" to begin the guided setup.

Tip: Always verify installation files to avoid tampered packages.

Slide 4 — Connect your Ledger

Physically pair the device

Connect your Ledger device to your computer or phone. Follow on-screen prompts to choose a PIN and store your 24‑word recovery phrase offline. Never share the recovery phrase or enter it on a computer.

  • Choose a secure PIN — not predictable numbers.
  • Write down the recovery phrase on the provided card; store it in a safe place.

Slide 5 — Login Options

Connect, unlock, and authenticate

Ledger® Live authenticates by requesting approval on the physical device. Login options emphasize device-first security: you must confirm actions on your Ledger. The app itself provides a PIN-locked interface.

For mobile, Ledger Live may use Bluetooth to communicate with devices like the Nano X. Approve pairings only when you expect them.

Slide 6 — Adding Accounts

Import and create wallets

Within Ledger Live, go to the "Accounts" tab to add a new account. Choose the crypto asset you want to manage, then follow prompts to derive and add account addresses from your device.

  • Multiple accounts per asset are supported.
  • Ledger Live reads public keys from the device — your private keys never leave the hardware wallet.

Slide 7 — Receiving Crypto

Verify addresses on device

Always verify the receiving address on your Ledger device screen before sharing it. Addresses shown in Ledger Live should be cross-checked visually with the device to ensure no man-in-the-middle tampering.

Use QR codes for mobile transfers and confirm the address on the hardware wallet for maximum safety.

Slide 8 — Sending Crypto

Confirm transactions securely

Create a transaction in Ledger Live, set fees, and review details on your device. The final approval must be done on the Ledger — this two-step confirmation ensures the app cannot sign transactions without your physical consent.

  • Double-check amounts and recipient addresses before approval.
  • Use custom fees for speed/price control when available.

Slide 9 — Security Best Practices

Maintain a strong security posture

Protect your recovery phrase, keep firmware updated, and distrust unsolicited messages. Ledger Live offers firmware updates — apply them from the official app only after verifying prompts on the device.

Never: enter your recovery phrase into software, store it digitally, or take photos of it.
